It's a charming small Caribbean town where the community consists of colorful artists, ex pats, local fishermen and flocks of Brown Pelicans; Puerto Morelos's mascot. You can sit and have a margarita and watch the town square where children play soccer with waves breaking on the reef in the background, and the local fishermen showing off their freshly caught grouper. The town of Puerto Morelos has a unique personality and high regard to the nature surrounding it. The Great Mayan Reef a National Park is only a short 200 yards from the beach and is an ideal place to enjoy snorkeling or scuba diving with a wide array of Caribbean fish.
Puerto Morelos has the advantage of being conveniently located midway between the towns of Cancun and Playa Del Carmen at the start of the Mayan Riviera, making it an ideal location to explore all of the areas nearby attractions. A 18 minute drive south of the Cancun airport.
Many of our renters over the years say they just love Puerto Morelos because "It reminds them of what Playa Del Carmen was like 20 or so years ago, a quaint Mexican Beach Town." The difference between Puerto Morelos and Playa Del Carmen is that Puerto Morelos has been able to maintain a low-key residential community; all the huge all-inclusive resorts are set apart from the actual town. Many of Puerto Morelos residents are working fishermen, and you will enjoy watching them arrive back to the pier in the afternoon with their boats full of fish, take an walk on the beach you will see the local fishing boats docked for the night.
The Cancun and Playa Del Carmen lack the colonial town setting that most of the rest of Mexico has, however the exception is Puerto Morelos which has a town square surrounded by neighborhood shops, restaurants and the heart of the community the Church. The town square is the center of activity, most any night of the week there is a soccer game going on (Mexican's call it futbol), there is a playground area for the kids and a gazebo that at times have band playing and on Wednesdays the center of town host a farmers market.
Lying only six miles (10 k) south of Puerto Morelos is Playa Del Secreto (the Secret Beach); a hidden breathtaking mile long beach with a residential area of only a dozen or so villas, its Puerto Morelos's "Secret Neighbor". Playa Del Secreto is part of the city of Playa Del Carmen, but it wasn't always that way, for us whom have lived here for a while can remember getting our services like police and fire from Puerto Morelos. Even though for years now we have been legally part of Playa Del Carmen, we still think of ourselves as a subdivision of Puerto Morelos.
Playa Del Secreto beach is a turtle sanctuary where each year the residents mark and safeguard the new sea turtle nest from predators, just one of our efforts to be in harmony with the nature living here with us, the same eco priorities as the residents of Puerto Morelos.
We offer Puerto Morelos Vacation Homes located in the "Secret Neighbor" Playa Del Secreto, a safe gated residential community.
Playa Del Secreto the Yucatan's newest Micro Destination is being known for hosting some of the most notable beach wedding performed in the Mayan Riviera. It's a perfect location for a wedding; we get very little if any beach traffic from Resorts or the small number of vacation rentals on the beach so when we say it will be a private wedding we mean it.
We are home of the Only Catholic Chapel on the Ocean in the Mayan Riviera and a Full Service High End Event Palapa we also have some of the largest vacation rentals big enough to lodge all your Destination Wedding Guest. We didn't just start hosting Mexican Destination Beach Weddings; we have been doing it for years long before it has become the trend among brides so we have the experience to make your wedding dreams come true.
We have lived in the area for 13+ years. If you have an issue with the villas, we are minutes away not miles away in another country. All About Us...

Dear Liza and Miguel,
Last week was the most relaxing vacation ever. The villa far exceeded my expectations and I can honestly say it is the nicest place Dave and I have ever stayed at, and we have stayed at a lot! The location is absolutely beautiful with a breathtaking view of the Caribbean. I could not believe all the amenities in the villa - way more than anywhere else. The bedrooms were inviting and tastefully decorated. I could not believe that every bedroom had their own en suite - no one had to share, which is huge when you have 8 people staying in one villa. The welcoming dinner was amazing and Miguel - you are quite the chef! There were lots of things you could do if you wanted to - from para sailing, sailing, water skiing, tours etc., but I just enjoyed relaxing by the pool, walking on the beach, reading and soaking up the sun. I would recommend your villas to anyone. Definitely a five star in my mind. Thanks for a great vacation.

We just returned from a wonderful week vacation at The Secret Beach Villas in Playa Del Secreto. We stayed in the Shell Villa There were 8 of us four adults and four adult kids. We loved the Villa plenty of space and Liza and Miguel's attention to detail is amazing. The pool and the beach were beautiful and the staff keeps everything so clean. We felt very safe our whole trip we rented cars and went to Akumal and swam with the sea turtles. Everyone we encountered was very friendly and helpful. We also had dinner and went shopping in Puerto Morelos very beautiful town. Would highly recommend staying in one of these villas everything is top notch.

We have rented many houses in many different places around the world but Villa Canteena has to be at the top of the list. The location is beautiful!! You could just relax and enjoy the beach, pool and house or if you wanted to do a little more there is plenty to keep you busy all along the Mayan Riviera. We chose a couple of day trips but mostly spent our time at the house and enjoyed every minute. What made this house exceptional was the Staff. They were helpful, friendly, and always attentive to your needs. We focused on time as a family and enjoying everything this great spot has to offer. Thanks to Doy and Cher for your help and to the whole family for having the vision to create this paradise.
