The World for Puerto Morelos Charitable Trust
"El Mundo para Puerto Morelos"

El Mundo para Puerto Morelos (The World for Puerto Morelos ) was founded in October, 2006, and is an active, certified, non-profit organization set up to raise funds locally and internationally for the needs of the community of Puerto Morelos, Riviera Maya, Mexico.

    EMPPM began in response to the devastation of Hurricane Wilma and the appalling conditions in the schools, medical clinics and fire service of this rapidly growing community.
   
EMPPM directs and provides projects, often in conjunction with the government, to supply goods and equipment and training to the schools, medical clinics, emergency services, families in distress and victims of disasters.

What we have done so far....

• Installation of a new water system in the primary school.
   
• Developed a Free book distribution program.
   
• Rebuilt the high school laboratory.
  
  
• Acquired donations for medical supplies, imaging equipment and emergency EMS equipment.

 

• Installed windows in the community library.
  
   
• Supplied walkers and sponsored a blanket drive for the elderly.
  
   
• Built of kitchen and lunchroom for the kindergarten.
  
  
   
• Removal of hurricane rubble from schools.
  
  
   
• Hosted workshops on asthma and cervical cancer for local doctors.
   
• Distributed to the local firemen - uniforms, helmets, gloves and training manuals.
   
• 
   
• Arranged supplies of food and accommodation for various families in distress.

 

What we plan to do....

• Sponsor monthly supplies for school first aid.
   
• Continue the free book distribution program.
  
   
• Purchase an ambulance service for the town.
  
   
• Purchase and plant shade trees in the schoolyards.
   
• Computers for all schools.

• Purchase of a fire truck, fire fighting equipment and construction of a fire station.
  
  
  
  
   
• Continue to arrange donations of medical supplies.
  
   
• Sponsor Clinics to train First Aid for young people and paramedic training for adults.
  
   
• Arrange English classes for adults and children.
  
   
• Special education teachers for primary school.
  
   
• Ongoing supplies of vitamins and medicines for the Public Clinic

    Donations can be dropped at Mama's Bakery in Puerto Morelos or contact Catriona Brown  (Administrator El Mundo para Puerto Morelos SC) and she will be happy to come and pick it up.
